ERNiFeCr-2 (NA718) filler metal is used by gas tungsten arc welding process for Cr-Ni-Nb-Mo alloys. Use of high heat impart process such as mig often results in micro-fissuring.

 

Inconel alloy 718 is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-chromium alloy also containing significant amounts of iron, niobium and molybdenum along with lesser amounts of aluminum and titanium. It combines corrosion resistance and high strength with outstanding weldability, including resistance to post-weld cracking. The alloy has excellent creep-rupture strength at temperatures to 1300F (700C). Used in gas turbines, rocket motors, spacecraft, nuclear reactors, pumps and tooling. INCONEL alloy 718SPF is a special version designed for superplastic forming.

Stellite alloys are a group of cobalt-chromium ''super-alloys'' consisting of complex carbides in an alloy matrix predominantly designed for high wear resistance and superior chemical and corrosion performance in hostile environments. The combination of Cobalt and Chromium also results in an extremely high melting point making them perfect for a range of intriguing applications from extreme cutting tools to hot section alloy coatings in gas turbines. They may also contain molybdenum or tungsten and a small amount of carbon to offer even greater performance for specific applications.

Most of the stellite alloys contain four to six of these elements. The Carbon content (and hence carbide volume) of a Stellite alloy is incredibly influential on the materials performance. Therefore, it is possible to group Stellite alloys as follows:

STELLITE 6 RODS   ,   Co6 RodCo6 is the most widely used of the wear resistant cobalt-based alloys and exhibits good all-round performance. It is regarded as the industry standard for general-purpose wear resistance applications, has excellent resistance to many forms of mechanical and chemical degradation over a wide temperature range, and retains a reasonable level of hardness up to 500°C (930°F). It also has good resistance to impact and cavitation erosion. Co6 is ideally suited to a variety of hardfacing processes and can be turned with carbide tooling. Examples include valve seats and gates, pump shafts and bearings, erosion shields, and rolling couples. It is often used self-mated.

Co1 RodCo1 contains a high proportion of hard, wear resistant primary carbides. These render the alloy well suited to applications involving extreme low-angle erosion and severe abrasion, with some sacrifice in toughness. Compared to other cobalt alloys it is more crack-sensitive, and care should be taken to minimize the cooling stresses experienced during casting and hardfacing processes. Due to its high hardness and wear resistance, Co1 should only be finished by grinding.

ERNiCrMo-3 (NA625) is used primarily for gas tungsten and gas metal arc and matching composition base metals. It is also used for welding Inconel 601 and Incoloy 800. It can be used to weld dissimilar metal combinations such as steel, stainless steel, Inconel and Incoloy alloys.

A nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with an addition of niobium that acts with the molybdenum to stiffen the alloy''s matrix and thereby provide high strength without a strengthening heat treatment. The alloy resists a wide range of severely corrosive environments and is especially resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion. Used in chemical processing, aerospace and marine engineering, pollution-control equipment and nuclear reactors.
